Mango Groove Active from: 1984
Claire Johnston (born 16 December 1967) is an Anglo-South African singer and songwriter. She is the lead singer of the South African fusion band Mango Groove.
Mango Groove was formed in Johannesburg in 1984. Three of the four founding members\u2014John Leyden, Andy Craggs, and Bertrand Mouton\u2014were bandmates in a "white middle-class punk band" called Pett Frog, while they were students at the University of the Witwatersrand.
"Special Star" was co-written by Kevin Botha, Mango bandleader John Leyden, and bandmembers Siphu Bhengu, Alan Lazar, and Mduduzi Magwaza.
