How True Is the Off-Screen Lesbian Allegation?
On TV, Sofia (Jules) diligently portrays the lesbian character with the on-screen lover, Elizabeth McLaughlin, in the “Betrayal” series (Valerie). With time, the lovers’ connection develops into a legitimate one, prompting them to get more personal in the ABC network series.
Sofia discussed her character and her on-screen love with her woman in an interview with afterellen.com, saying:
“I portray Jules, an IT super nerd at Val’s father’s firm who is wise beyond her years, incredibly brilliant, sassy, quick-witted, and a little caustic!” And I believe Val is also her first serious relationship because Jules has a bit of fun and perhaps doesn’t take many girls seriously and toys around. And then, I believe, when she meets Val, she feels compelled to take it more seriously, and it becomes a legal relationship with her.”
With the continued love on the screen with a lady and the suspense in her love life, suspicions about her sexual orientation grew. But, according to her Twitter battle, the actress disputed the report. Though the Twitter post has since been removed, Sofia had a Twitter spat with Westboro Baptist Church for the benefit of the Lesbian community, in which the Baptist Church representative accused Sofia of being a w****, to which Sofia responded:
“Listen, you don’t want to start with me. “I’m a Jew who plays a lesbian on television.” Hell, sure!” “And you’re a jerk who was bred to hate more than you love, so I guess we’re even.”
Sofia’s defense was bolstered further when she posted a nice photo with an unnamed male on her social networking site.
After a year, Sofia posted a photo of an unidentified man whom she referred to as her boyfriend. Even though no further information about the man has been published, the actress is still in a covert relationship. [post removed]
Her low-key dating situation undoubtedly sparked the actress’s lesbian rumors. The allegation would not have started if she had spoken about her partner from the beginning. Maybe Sofia doesn’t want to bring her boyfriend into the spotlight, which is why she keeps his specifics to herself: she wants to keep a wall between her personal and professional lives while enjoying her love life individually and secretively. As a result, she interacts with a man who demonstrates her straight sexual orientation.
