My crush likes me but we don't talk!

My crush told me he liked me a month ago, and I accepted his feelings since I like him, too. But now, we barely talk, I’m guessing that we are both too shy, the only times we actually chat is on Facebook. He is extremely sweet, but now, when we talk, it becomes pretty awkward.

Should I make a move? Like ask him out for ice-cream or something? I’m not exactly the guy-type kind of girl, and I’m not ready for a ‘serious’ relationship, so what should I do? Please give me some advice!

Hey girl! You will be happy to know that this happens a lot! Sometimes it’s hard to figure out what to do and where to go after the initial “I like you” but with a little bit of advice, you should be able to take it from awkward to fantastic.

Talk to him in person

You obviously know he’s into you, so he’s not gonna ignore you if you try to talk to him at school. Instead of always talking to him on Facebook, strike up a conversation in person.

Start with a simple hey and ask him how school is going. If you are walking to class, you will probably only have a short conversation, which is key to making things less awkward between you two. The more short conversations you have with each other, the more comfy you (and he) will begin to feel.

The next step

Once you start talking regularly in person and not just on Facebook chat, ask him out. He seems like a shy guy and he may not know if you still have feelings for him.

Guys don’t want us to know that they are probably more scared of asking a girl out than we are of asking a guy out, so he would probably think you were even more amazing if you took the first step and asked if he wants to grab ice-cream after school or catch a movie on Friday night.

The talk

Relationship talks are always awkward and a little tense, so you be the one to bring it up. If you are in control of when and where it happens, you will feel much more comfortable.

Let him know you like him, but don’t think you are ready for a serious relationship. Tell him you like going out with him and maybe one day it will progress into something serious (if that’s what you really think) but for now, keep it friendly. He will totally appreciate your honesty.

It seems the biggest problem between you two is the lack of real communication. Once you fix that, I bet you will find things are a lot better between the two of you.

XOXO,

Liz
